The Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders Initiative for Community Action on AIDS at the Local Level in Zambia (AMICAALL Zambia) plays a pivotal role in coordinating and strengthening community‑level HIV responses. Established in 2002 to complement national HIV strategies, AMICAALL empowers local authorities to lead prevention, treatment, and support interventions within their jurisdictions. Current evidence shows strong progress in multisectoral coordination, youth‑focused health initiatives, and urban HIV response mechanisms, yet further strengthening of local systems is critical to achieving an AIDS‑free Zambia.
