The Local GovernmentAwards for Excellence (LGAE) is designed to motivate councils to design,implement and adopt projects and innovative practices that serve communityinterests in a cost-effective and sustainable way. The LGAE is aimed atimproving capacities of councils to deliver quality municipal services and development the communities that they serve. Lessons learnt from theassessment processes are shared among all local authorities with the view toimprove service delivery. The Annual Conference and other platforms are usedfor learning and sharing the best practices among local authorities to encouragereplicability and continuous innovation.
